Asian Brown Rice

Rice is free from gluten, which is a protein found in rye, wheat, oats and barley.

It is also a good source of energy and is devoid of cholesterol and salt.

The insoluble fiber in rice helps to provide relief from constipation.

Serves 4


2 cups brown rice

4 cups water

1 teaspoon garlic,minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger

1 tablespoon cup mirin

1 tablespoon soy sauce


Bring the water and the rice to a boil in a sauce pan. You can add in the water a little salt and oil. Let it boil for 15 minutes, then simmer, uncovered, for another 15 minutes.Cover and remove the pan from the heat and let sit for 10 minutes. Ina small bowl, mix together the garlic, ginger, mirin and soy sauce and pour over de rice.

Serve with vegetables and pear.
