Mussels in Red Sauce


Mussels in red sauce dish is an easy and good tasting way to cook mussels with tomatoes.

It’s a recipe for mussels in a tomato and wine sauce.

Serve 4


1 tablespoon olive oil

1 onion, chopped

2 garlic cloves, finely chopped

1 can organic tomatoes

1 tablespoon tomatoes paste

¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper

¾ cup dry white wine

4 pounds mussels ,cleaned

2 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley


Heat olive oil in a nonreactive Dutch oven, on medium heat. Add onion and cook until tender, 5 minutes. Add garlic, crushed red pepper. Stir in tomatoes with their juice, tomatoes paste and wine. Cook for 5 minutes.

Add mussels, cover and simmer until mussels open, about 7 minutes. When are open, transfer mussels to large bowl. Stir the juice over mussels and sprinkle with parsley.
